Tabula Rasa takes a page from Guild Wars
http://www.rgtr.com/news/latest_news...y_9262008.html
So now they get henchies/heroes. You can even set their aggression like GW.

Sounds like they're doing it a lot better for Tabula Rasa though, being able to command a unit to follow and assist a certain target? That'd be godly in GW if you need to split and have a certain number of Heroes/Hench.

Remember - they did it first in Guildwars.
Now they are improving the level of control and giving the player more options in Tabula Rasa.
We will probably see these improvements carried even further in GWII

Nice attempt at humor.
The game is actually on an upswing in population, recently. The bugs are gone, and there is more content in the pipe. If it's dead, GW has a foot in the grave.

I was under the impression that there was a news release stating that Tabula Rasa's servers were closing down soon

Well ANet did at one point say that they sold bits of their game engine to various NC Soft peoples, so doesn't surprise me that they would implement it.

GW has been on the steady decline since EotN, and it's to be expected, GW has pretty much come to the end of its career. Development has really halted in the last year, as the Dev team is allmost full focus on GW2.

There was nothing official announced. The rumor was released with hints to the merger of the NA NCsoft subsidiaries, so once that deal went through, people saw the Tabula Rasa rumor as fact. -_-
See here: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=233495
It's nice to see how well polished Tabula Rasa is becoming. I mean, the game is great, it just got marketed all wrong, and didn't quite cover all the bases its first time around.
EDIT:

If NCsoft decided to axe Aion at this point, they might aswell just go commit mass scuicide...
The last 3 NCsoft mmos have been general failures, and Aion is suppossed to be the game to put them back on the map in asia. (I'm still looking forward to Blade&Soul myself, but that is neither here nor there)

Well NCSoft was forced to layoff a bunch of people - Tabula Rasa was untouched, Aion was axed, Lineage 1 was axed, most of Lineage 2's team was axed I think, and Dungeon Runners team was untouched because they already got raped by previous layoffs or something of the sort.

According to the interviews given the layoffs have to do with the formation of NCWest and concentrating the publishing of all NCSoft product into the Pacific NW office. They did away with those jobs at other development sites.
But development personnel remain in place and NCWest will be dropping the "little" stuff and only working on "mega" games in the future. Or so is said in the MMORPG.com interview quoted in this Riverside thread.

Sounds great for Tabula Rasa, now if only it wasn't pay-to-play.

Would you kindly explain where you're getting your info from?
Aion is currently in its last stages of beta and is slated for a 1/2Q 2009 release, and for NCsoft to "Axe" it would pretty much mean the company has just gone bankrupt...

Searching for the best link atm but tons of sites are mentioning lots of NCSoft layoffs
edit: those sites talk about before the merge of the Austin company and more merging into NCWest. No idea what's going on now. There was also talk of Tabula Rasa being discontinued after about a 41% drop in income from the game so who knows.

nothing got axed at all except for people being relocated into one company to focus on several big games instead of everyone doing smaller stuff and a few jobs.
ncsoft would be pretty stupid to axe Lineage 1 and Lineage 2. both are killer profit makers and Lineage 1 actually makes more money than Lineage 2.

They're not the same developers, so what happens in GW doesn't affect TR and nor does TR affect GW2. NCSoft is a publisher, not a developer, and ArenaNet and Destination Games are quite separate.
I haven't heard anything about Aion being axed - they JUST revamped a ton of stuff within the last 2 months, so to scrap it so soon after that would be a real waste of what's an amazing looking game.
There has been much rumor about TR but none of it substantiated. I'd be really surprised if it shut down when it's got such an involved dev team that's in the community and constantly making changes. I don't think changes would still be coming in if they were shutting down, and I think it would be a little odd if the media knew and the development team didn't. Therefore, I lean to rumor on this one. :P

it looks like a great game, but with it being pay to play i cant afford it since i cant work yet, now if they make it FTP like GW they will get a lot more sales. just my 2 cents.
